My Work Experience With Prestige (By Ruby Mullins)
First Stop - Financial Operations
During my work experience with Prestige Recruitment, I had the opportunity to engage with various departments and gain valuable insights into the workings of a recruitment agency. My experience began on Monday when I visited the head office in Birmingham, where I met key members of the accounts and finance team, including Tim, the management accountant, and Jenny, the accounts office manager. This initial meeting was interesting and important as it set the tone for my own understanding of the financial operations within the company. Tim and Jenny provided me with an overview of their roles and responsibilities explaining how they manage the financial health of Prestige.
Moving to Marketing
After my time with the finance team, I transitioned to work with Ed, the marketing director. This part of my experience was particularly exciting as he helped me to understand and delve into digital marketing. He explained the importance of having a strong online presence. We also focused on website management, where I learned about optimising content for better user engagement. One of the highlights of my week was creating blogs on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, X and Facebook where Ed emphasised the importance of tailoring content to suit each platform’s audience and the need for consistency. I enjoyed the creative process of writing an engaging blog that reflected the values and services of prestige recruitment. Subsequently it was interesting to see how effective content can drive engagement and attract potential clients. In addition to written content, we also ventured into video production. I participated in recording and editing video content. This hands-on experience taught me valuable skills in video production and editing software and was also very enjoyable. My work with Ed was my favourite experience of the week and has made me want to enter a job similar in the future.
From AI to CRM
Throughout the week we also used AI assistants and scheduling tools, the use of them in marketing is a growing trend, and it was interesting to see how prestige was incorporating these tools into their daily operations to free up time to spend more time with clients. On Wednesday Annejulie (CEO) and I went to Warrington to see the recruitment office, which was a very valuable and exciting learning experience for me. I met the recruitment consultants and saw them answer phone calls to clients in a cheerful and helpful manner whilst giving worthwhile advice to companies and interviewing job seekers. All the employees at Prestige were very welcoming and kind, lovely people to spend the week with. I sent out messages to job seekers to see their availability to update the work database. Alongside researching companies’ sectors/size/type to update the CRM to help the consultants search for clients in a quicker and easier manner. I also supported the consultants with Ang’s help, working with Boolean search strings to help find clients more efficiently.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, my experience with Prestige was an educational but fun experience and it has helped me to learn more about how a business is run and the amount of thought that goes behind every decision. Thank you for making me feel welcome and teaching me plenty of new things. I will take this experience with me to the next step of my life.
